Features: - Elevators are instruments used in dental extractions. - They are used to loosen teeth prior to forceps extraction, to remove roots or impacted teeth. - The bend of the working ends, combined with the shortened tips, allows a gentle lifting of the opposite root without contact to the neighboring crown. - The special claw elevators are ideal to luxate roots if an apical access is possible from the neighboring alveolus, e.g. if a root has already been removed and if the empty alveolus can be used as access. - It is recommended first to remove the root which is bent less. - Right. - Fig. 12-R.
